“Farming practices in the Yarra Valley are becoming increasingly sustainable”

Farming practices in the Yarra Valley are becoming increasingly sustainable as many land sites are changing their ways of producing in a more suitable manner. Each farming landsite have different ways of reducing the negative effects on the environment. Many farm lands are producing foods and sources all year by using organic fertilisers, conserving the use of water, use of biological compost, implementation of a water management system and stabilisation. The farming sites we visited incorporated many of these features.

For example, the De Bortoli Wines incorporated biological compost as a substitute of fertilizers. The Big Bouquet implemented a hydroponic as a water system to conserve water and Rayner’s Stonefruits implemented rock paths to prevent soil erosion. These factors are incorporated in the land sites to reduce the heavy and negative impacts on the environment. These farming practices are increasingly become more sustainable and only using chemicals when necessary.
