De Bortoli

De Bortoli Wines was established in 1928 and is situated on Pinnacle Lane in Dixons Creek. This place was found and named after Vittorio De Bortoli four years after him and his wife’s migration to Australia. The area is a large picturesque landscape full of sustainable aspects. These sustainable factors include the use of biological compost, meaning that the uses of fertilizers are not needed and the plants are consuming organic matter. Nitrogen also enters through the soil instead of using nitrogen-based fertilizers. The soil moisture is being monitored and irrigation tubes have been incorporated. There is also a water management system implemented into the farm such as water tanks and dams. This means that water is not constantly being wasted, but is being collected, cleaned and being reused. As well as that, mowing grass is being disposed to retain water and create biodiversity. The wines itself have an oak flavor and do not contain as much alcohol unlike other alcoholic drinks, therefore, this may easily attract consumers, nationally and internationally. Those are not the only positive features of this farm. The farm is also situated in the higher ground levels near the mountains, so the temperature is usually very well, fresh and stable for the farm.
